The origins of the iconic rapper Notorious BIG are told in the trailer for the new Netflix documentary, Biggie: I Got a Story to Tell.
The documentary is composed of scenes rarely seen filmed by Biggie’s best friend, Damion “D-Roc” Butler, including new interviews with his family and friends.
The late rapper, born Christopher Wallace, was shot and killed in a shootout in March 1997, aged just 24.

The trailer starts with spontaneous photos of the rapper, while he explains: ‘That was it. It was just that. It was a dream. ‘
Rare footage taken in 1995 shows Biggie shaving with an electric razor, with Butler explaining: ‘My son has three hairs, he gets nervous’.

Biggie’s mother, Voletta Wallace, reveals that her son ‘was a very smart boy’, adding that he started writing in elementary school.
Another unidentified man says he was trying to ‘prepare Chris to be a jazz artist because he was so talented’.

Diddy said he told Biggie that if he wanted to rap, he would have to ‘commit’ to it, adding, ‘you can’t do both,’ which means he still can’t sell drugs and start a career in rap music.

The documentary will be released on Netflix on March 1, just a few months before what would have been her 50th birthday in May.
It was announced last month that Notorious BIG will be included in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame this year.
