Biggest winners, losers in the first Jets signings

Cole’s signature does not necessarily indicate that Jamison Crowder is coming out the door. Cole has the ability to line up outside while Crowder remains in the slot, which means that the two can coexist in the New York attack.

With that said, Crowder’s future with Gang Green looks bleaker now than it did at the beginning of free agency. The option to cut Crowder and hire JuJu Smith-Schuster is now off the table, but there is still a chance for Douglas to pick a receiver at the start of the 2021 NFL draft. Such a move would indicate a desire to stay younger in the position, leaving Crowder outside, looking like a possible drop in the cap.

Crowder has been the most consistent wide receiver of the Jets for the past two seasons and would add a lot of value to the New York pass attack in 2021. The cupboard is a little more crowded now that Cole is on board, and it can fill even more to the point where the door is finally shown to Crowder.
