Biggest games of 2021: all the release dates you need to know

Last year was very important for the games. Final Fantasy 7 Remake was released after 15 years of overkill, followed by the box office hits of The Last of Us 2 and Cyberpunk 2077. Animal Crossing went down while we were kidnapped from our homes, making it an unexpected success. And Sony and Xbox launched their next generation platforms on the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X | S, respectively.

So, what’s to come in 2021? Very. Unfortunately, most of the major titles scheduled for this year still have no release date. Here are five promising titles that do, followed by a list of titles that don’t work.

IO Interactive

IO Interactive restarted Hitman, the classic stealth franchise in which you play as a suitable merchant agent 47, in 2016. After a strong sequel (Hitman 2 2018), the series is set to climax with the third installment on January 20. “travel the world and kill interesting people”, causes a recent trailer. I can’t say no to that.

Hitman 3 is released on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X | S, Switch, Stadia and PC.

Nintendo

Super Mario 3D World is the last WiiU game to be transferred to Switch. This is not a bad thing, as the WiiU was home to several great games that didn’t spend much time in the sun. That includes Mario Kart 8, the best-selling Switch game so far.

Super Mario 3D World received universal acclaim on its original release, so it’s worth playing if you missed it before.

Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake

Release Date: March 18

Ubisoft

Remasters are cool, but remakes can be truly magical. After Shadow of the Colossus, Resident Evil 2 and Final Fantasy 7 Remake, three fantastic remakes, 2021 brings Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time. Originally released in 2003 for the PlayStation 2, Ubisoft is giving the platform game a total renewal of 2021.

Price of Persia: The Sands of Time is scheduled to be released on PC, Xbox One and PS4.

Capcom

After the well-received Monster Hunter World, released for PS4 and Xbox One in 2018, and the transfer of the 3DS Monster Hunter Generations game to the Switch, the Nintendo console is finally getting its new Monster Hunter game. Like other games in the franchise, it promises a giant world and hundreds of hours of killing beasts.

Bethesda

After years of focusing mainly on Dishonored, Arkane Studios developers are switching to a new IP on Deathloop. And it looks sick.

Here’s the idea: you’re a killer caught in a timeloop that restarts every day. To get out, you need to kill eight “visionaries” who are scattered across an island. The caveat is that you will need to do this on a timeloop. The second caveat is that as you hunt down the eight visionaries, a rival killer keeps busy Hunting you.

Deathloop will arrive on PlayStation 5 and PC on May 21, with an Xbox version likely to arrive next year (has console exclusivity timed for a year).

Games coming ‘TBA’ 2021

The following titles are scheduled for release this year. We will update this page as the games have an official release date.

Warner Bros.

Lego Star Wars is back after five years. The last time we saw the franchise was with The Force Awakens 2016. This game looks much more ambitious: The Skywalker Saga Lego-izes all nine Star Wars films.

The Skywalker Saga does not yet have a final release date, but is scheduled for the first or second quarter. When it comes out, it will come to PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X | S, Switch and PC.

Far Cry 6

Release date: 2021

Ubisoft

Originally scheduled for February, Far Cry 6 has been postponed until an unknown date in 2021. But it is set to be the largest Far Cry, with more resources and is set in the tropical region of Yara – loosely based on Cuba.

The game will not just be released on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Series X | S, PC and Google Stadia, but will also arrive on Amazon’s Luna platform.

The main trailer for last year’s Game Awards was a new Mass Effect. This is probably a long way off. The top side? More time for the remastered benefits of Mass Effect. Mass Effect Legendary Edition consists of updated (but not redone) versions of Mass Effect, Mass Effect 2 and Mass Effect 3 and will be released on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.

Gran Turismo 7

Release date: 2021

Sony Interactive

Gran Turismo has been a staple of PlayStation consoles since the original GT was released on the original PS in 1997. Gran Turismo 7 was announced for the PlayStation 5 last June, and we know little about it other than that it is due for release in 2021 .

Microsoft

Halo Infinite was created to be the great launch with the Xbox Series X | S, but after a weak response from fans to a preview from last year, it ended late until the fall of 2021. The name Halo alone makes this game mandatory for most Xbox owners and developers at 343 Industries are trying something new by make multiplayer free.

Lord of the Rings: Gollum

Release date: 2021

After the two games of Middle-earth showed that the Lord of the Rings games can still be devastating, 2021 will bring another service in the form of Lord of the Rings: Gollum. It won’t be the action RPG that Middle Earth games were, focusing on their Gollum cunning and stealth, but it looks intriguing.

Lord of the Rings: Gollum will arrive on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, X Series | S, Switch and PC.

Horizon Forbidden West

Release date: 2021

Horizon Zero Dawn is one of the best games for PlayStation 4 and its sequel is coming in 2021. Horizon Forbidden West tracks Aloy’s journey to Utah, Nevada and California in the 30th century as she tracks the origins of a killer virus. Truly, a game for our times.

Horizon Forbidden West will be released on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 this year.

God of War: Ragnarok

Release date: 2021

Sony Interactive

Speaking of excellent PS4 games and their sequences, God of War: Ragnarok will also be coming to PlayStation 4 and 5 this year.

In fact, that’s all we know about the game so far, as the game’s teaser contained only half the logo and the 2021 launch window.

Hogwarts legacy

Release date: 2021

Warner Bros.

The history of witchcraft and giant magic at Hogwarts is a perfect opportunity for a high level game. Later this year, we’ll see if Avalanche Software developers can do the trick with Hogwarts Legacy. The game is set in 1800, before the Harry Potter era, and will mix RPG elements with the Potter tradition.

Hogwarts Legacy to be released on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, X Series | S and PC.

Resident Evil Village

Release date: 2021.

Capcom

Don’t be fooled by the name: Resident Evil Village is actually Resident Evil 8. It is a direct sequel to the story of Resident Evil 7, but the developers have called it “Village” to indicate how the village takes place. it is a key element. Not so subtle – but it sure will be scary.

We don’t know when Resident Evil Village will be released, except for the “2021” window, but when it does, it will be on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Series X | S and PC.
