Big Ten Wide Receiver of the Year Ty Fryfogle returns to Indiana for the 2021 college football season

Indiana senior wide receiver Ty Fryfogle announced that playing again for the Hoosiers in 2021.

Fryfogle had the opportunity to declare himself for the NFL draft after being named Big Ten Wide Receiver of the year in the 2020 season, but decided to use his last year of college eligibility and return for his final season.

Fryfogle had 721 yards and seven touchdowns last season and led Indiana recipients in both categories, which included consecutive 200-yard games against Michigan State and Ohio State. He was named All-Big Ten by the first team by the media and the second All-Big Ten team by the coaches.

While Fryfogle has already announced its intentions, Indiana’s second largest recipient, Whop Philyor, has not yet announced what it intends to do. Philyor had the opportunity to leave for the NFL after the 2019 season, but returned in 2020 and had 495 yards and three touchdowns, leading the team in total receptions with 54.

The Hoosiers will also return quarterback Michael Penix Jr., who tore his ACL in the game against Maryland and has not played in the last three games of the season. Before his injury, Penix Jr. shot for 1,645 yards and 14 touchdowns, taking Indiana to a 5-1 record in his six games, including an exciting win in overtime at the season opener against Penn State.
