Biden’s “radical” foreign policy agenda is giving Iran the chance to become a nuclear state: Mr Turner

President Biden’s “radical” foreign policy agenda is “to turn our policy towards the Middle East upside down” and give Iran a “way out” to become a nuclear state with a return to the Obama-era nuclear deal, deputy Mike Turner, R-Ohio, said Sunday.

Turner told Sunday Morning Futures presenter Maria Bartiromo that the 2015 nuclear deal with Iran was “terminally defective”, having expired the main provisions regarding Iran’s nuclear program and allowing the country to continue missile development.

“With this government coming back to this agreement, they are really giving Iran the chance to seek to become a nuclear state,” said Turner.

Turner said that along with Iran, the Biden government was “turning to” China, which he described as another “adversary” to the United States that is “our greatest vulnerability to jobs, our greatest vulnerability to our economy”.

“This government is looking away from our allies and those who are our opponents,” said Turner.

Turner also discussed security at the U.S. Capitol, where National Guard troops are still on patrol and barbed wire fences still surround the complex after the January 6 riot.

“By isolating Capitol, by isolating this symbol of democracy, they are indicating that we are a democracy in danger, rather than just starting to work and serve the American public,” he said.

Turner said there was no threat to justify these security measures, which he called part of the Democrats’ “fear narrative”.

“The American public is not our opponent, Iran is our opponent,” said Turner.
