President Biden appears to have erased Dr. Seuss from “Read Across America Day,” the annual celebration of reading in honor of the legendary children’s author, whose birthday falls on March 2.
While Biden followed the presidential tradition by proclaiming Tuesday “Read Across America Day”, he resisted his predecessors, leaving out any mention of Dr. Seuss in the proclamation.
The White House did not immediately return a request for comment on why Dr. Seuss was left out of the proclamation, but the contempt comes when progressives seek to cancel the author of the beloved children.
One of Virginia’s largest school districts, the Loudoun County Public Schools, allegedly excluded Dr. Seuss from the school’s “Reading Day for America” celebration, citing alleged racial “nuances” in his children’s books.

Obama’s proclamation in 2016 described Seuss as “one of the venerated artisans of the word” who “used his incredible talent to instill in his most impressionable readers the universal values that we all love”.
