President Biden – who faces criticism for not having given a solo press conference yet – will show up for a seated interview this week to sell his $ 1.9 trillion coronavirus relief account to the American public ABC News announced Sunday.
Biden will be interviewed by anchor George Stephanopoulos on Wednesday on “Good Morning America”, while President and Vice President Kamala Harris and their spouses cross the country on the “Help is Here” tour to publicize the stimulus plan that will send checks from $ 1,400 for eligible Americans.
The president has answered some questions from reporters when making announcements or while traveling, since he joined the White House on January 20, but has not yet answered questions from reporters at a formal press conference, as his predecessors did.
Biden signed the stimulus plan last Thursday during a ceremony at the Rose Garden and made comments, but did not answer questions from the press.
First Lady Jill Biden will visit a school in New Jersey on Monday, and the president will travel to Delaware County, outside Philadelphia, on Tuesday.
He will also go to Atlanta on Friday.
Harris and her husband, Doug Emhoff, will travel to Nevada and Colorado.
Asked when Biden could have a solo press, White House press secretary Jen Psaki said there are many pressing issues at the moment.
“He answered the questions. I believe that this count is almost 40 times. And I would say that his focus, once again, is to get recovery and relief for the American people and he hopes to continue to engage with all of you and members of – other members of the media who are not here today, and we look forward to informing you. it as soon as the press conference is scheduled, ”said Psaki earlier this month.
