President Joe Biden said on Monday that the U.S. is on track to meet two major goals in the next 10 days: administering more than 100 million doses of the COVID-19 vaccine and sending 100 million stimulus checks.

“In the next 10 days, we will achieve two gigantic goals. The first is that 100 million shots in people’s arms will have been completed in the next 10 days and 100 million checks in people’s pockets,” said Biden during a speech at the White House.

“Gun shots and money in your pocket – this is important,” he added.

The US hit the first goal on Friday, surpassing the 100 million mark of managed kicks. The figure covers the doses of the two-dose regimens from Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna and the one-dose vaccine from Johnson & Johnson.

On Monday, 71 million Americans received at least one dose of vaccine, including 38.3 million who were fully vaccinated, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. This means that one in five American adults has received at least one dose of vaccine.

The Biden administration has recently made significant investments in the supply of vaccines from the United States. She plans to purchase enough vaccines for all American adults by the end of May.

On Thursday, in his first prime-time address to the American people, the president announced that the government would direct states and localities to make all adults eligible to be vaccinated by May 1.

Biden also confirmed that he would appoint former national economic advisor Gene Sperling to oversee the implementation of the American Rescue Plan, the comprehensive $ 1.9 trillion COVID-19 aid package that Biden signed on Thursday.

The bill includes $ 1,400 stimulus checks for people below certain income limits and other direct aids for families. It followed the bill signed by President Donald Trump in December, which delivered checks for $ 600 to eligible individuals.

“We are just getting started,” said Biden on Monday. “When all the money is distributed, 85% of American households will have received redemption checks for $ 1,400.”

Some people have already received their payments and millions more Americans are expected to have their payments in their bank accounts by Wednesday. People can check the status of their checks with the IRS “Get My Payment” tool.
