10:00 am – Actress Keke Palmer will begin presenting the first live broadcast curated to American children and young people before and during the inaugural ceremonies, with a message from Jill Biden. It will be broadcast online through the inaugural committee, PBS News Hour and Amazon Prime Video, in addition to being broadcast by Nickelodeon and Discovery Education.
10:30 am – Arrival at the Eastern Front of the Capitol
11:15 am – The inauguration program will begin with an invocation from Father Leo J. O’Donovan, a former president of Georgetown University. A Georgia firefighter named Andrea Hall will lead the Pledge of Allegiance and Amanda Gorman, who made history in 2017 by being named the first National Young Poet Laureate, will read a poem.
Lady Gaga will sing the national anthem. The ceremony will also feature musical performances by Jennifer Lopez and Garth Brooks.
11:55 am – Harris is sworn in as 49th Vice President of the United States by Supreme Court Judge Sonia Sotomayor just before noon about a Bible that once belonged to the first African American to serve on the Supreme Court, Thurgood Marshall.
12:00 – Joe Biden is sworn in as the 46th President of the United States at noon, occurring with the 20th Amendment to the Constitution. Trump’s term officially ends. The new president will make his inaugural speech immediately.
Rev. Silvester Beaman, a Delaware pastor who was allied with Joe Biden’s late son, Beau Biden, will conclude the inauguration by giving the blessing.
1:40 pm – Joe Biden and Harris review the readiness of military troops in a review of the Capitol, a longstanding tradition to reflect the peaceful transition of power to a new commander in chief.
14h25 – Joe Biden, Harris and former Presidents Obama, George W. Bush and Clinton, along with their spouses, will participate in a crown laying ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier at Arlington National Cemetery.
15:15 – The new president and vice president will head to the White House to receive a presidential escort, with each branch of the armed forces represented.
Instead of the traditional Pennsylvania Avenue parade, there will be a virtual “Parade Across America” featuring performances from all 50 states and various territories. Jon Stewart is expected to make an appearance and Earth Wind & Fire is among the musical artists.
17:15 – Joe Biden will enter the Oval Office for the first time as president. He is expected to sign more than a dozen executive actions, reversing some of President Trump’s signature political initiatives and setting a new tone for his government. He plans to launch a national “challenge” for wearing masks, halt construction of the southern border wall, repeal the so-called “Muslim ban” and re-join the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Paris Agreement on Climate Change, among many other things.
17:45 – Joe Biden then swears on the first day the presidential nominees in a virtual ceremony.

8:30 pm– “Celebrating America” virtual television event, hosted by legendary actor Tom Hanks with performances by Demi Lovato, Justin Timberlake, Katy Perry, Tim McGraw Jon Bon Jovi, Bruce Springsteen, John Legend and Foo Fighters.
The 90-minute event will also include comments from the new president and vice president.
21:55 – Bidens appear on the Balcony of the Blue Room facing Gramado Sul to end the day’s festivities.
