White House officials on Friday will reveal a new partnership between the government and major business groups to help with Covid-19’s national response and the vaccine launch, a senior government official told CNBC.

The partnership will include the Chamber of Commerce, Business Roundtable, the National Association of Manufacturers, as well as leaders from Hispanic, African American, Asian American and other minority business organizations, the official said.

The objective of the partnership, according to the minister, is to call companies of all sizes “to promote public health measures to help reduce vaccination barriers for employees and to help expand public health messages about masking and vaccination. for their customers and communities. “The New York Times reported on the partnership earlier.

Outside of the partnership, Walgreens and Uber are launching a pilot program to offer free rides to pharmacies to get the Covid-19 vaccine. Other companies, such as Dollar General, Best Buy and Target, said they would compensate their employees with paid leave to receive the vaccine.

The White House, with its new business partners, will encourage more companies to do the same, the official said.

“In the coming weeks, the Biden administration, in partnership with these groups, will provide companies with toolkits and best practices at Covid-19 to help organizations provide accurate and up-to-date information to their employees and customers,” said the official. “Together, these organizations will reach millions of companies and tens of millions of employees to promote efforts to prevent the spread of Covid-19.”

Management will also highlight the various ways in which companies are working to help respond to Covid-19, the official said. Government officials are expected to discuss the initiative further at the White House Covid-19 briefing at 11 am Eastern time.
