Beverly Hills Italian restaurant, La Scala, has been criticized for promoting a speakeasy-style indoor dining experience that would violate security measures against the coronary virus.
City officials denounced the restaurant after customers received pieces of paper in their take-out orders announcing the New Year’s Eve event. Beverly Hills officials contacted the restaurant directly, as its advertised “stowaway” would violate security protocols against the city’s coronavirus.
“We understand that this is an incredibly difficult time for all of our businesses, however, the County Order currently prohibits dining indoors and outdoors, including in the city of Beverly Hills,” said Keith Sterling, public information officer for Beverly Hills.
The Beverly Hills Police Department is also aware of the restaurant’s plans.
La Scala’s invitations, sent while Los Angeles County continues to see a dramatic increase in new cases of Covid-19, related deaths and hospitalizations, compare the coronavirus pandemic to the 1920s ban.
“We are considering accepting reservations for New Year’s Eve Dinner. Inside, ”says the discreet invitation. “If this is something you are interested in, please let us know as soon as possible. If there is sufficient interest, we will contact you to guarantee a reservation. “
To maintain its tone of secrecy and subtle rebellion, La Scala’s invitation ends with, “please be discreet, but tell all your friends”.
Merry Christmas to all! The location of La Scala in Beverly Hills is keeping these invitations to an indoor New Year’s Eve dinner in its bags of takeaway food: “Keep it low, but tell all your friends.” 💀💀💀 pic.twitter.com/hu4cJGYxce
