Bethesda teasing Elder Scrolls 6 configuration

Wake up and put on your traditional caps, fans of Elder Scrolls. The Elder Scrolls VI may be a long way off yet, but it certainly never stopped anyone from trying to guess details about where and when it could be defined. The game is underway once again thanks to a map that Bethesda posted with a message that looks like it could be a hint that the ES6 will go to Hammerfell. Perhaps.

Here is the complete map below, which Bethesda posted with the message “Transcribing the past and mapping the future. A happy New Year! “It may just be a simple New Year’s wish next to a map of Skyrim or it may be an enigmatic hint about the Next Elder Scrolls game.

Online people are speculating that placing candles in the image is a clue to the future of the series. “Transcribing the past” could refer to the candle next to Solitude, an important location in The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. By this logic, then, certainly the candle placed very obviously just below the empty and unfilled space labeled “Hammerfell” is what we will be mapping in the future, yes?

Hammerfell, in the world of Tamriel, is home to the Redguard people. It is an almost arid place with the great Alik’r Desert. It certainly looks like a solid maybe the original teaser trailer below and this new map are singing the same song.

And the third candle, then? It stands next to a set of coins that were included in the physical collector’s edition for The Elder Scrolls Online’s Greymoor expansion last year. Maybe it’s something like the past, the present, the future? Hell, maybe the whole thing is a teaser related to ESO. Or, in fact, it may just be a fun little post designed to drive fans crazy.

Bethesda announced the next Elder Scrolls game in 2018 and has been talking very, very little about it ever since. It’s years away, behind the space Starfield RPG in its production schedule, and far enough away that they said we should probably be asking for details in a few years’ time. It would certainly be bold on their part if it ended up being some kind of TES6 tip.

If you missed the news in September, Microsoft bought Bethesda.
