5. December Kalos launch

Many thought Niantic would not dare to launch Generation Six Pokémon in 2020, as some Unova species have yet to be released, but the company pushed the game forward with a wave of Pokémon Kalos in December 2020. While some were bothered by the rarity of Noibat in Pokémon GO, the thrill of capturing a new and rare species in the wild is a rare joy in the game today.

4. Scraggy & Rufflet

GO Battle League remains a divisive aspect of Pokémon GO, with some players very involved in their PVP arena, while others ignore this aspect of the game completely. The release of Scraggy and Rufflet by Niantic as the coveted GO Battle League exclusive accountants caused many to try this platform, and the subsequent release of these Pokémon seemed like a fair move after a reasonable amount of time.

3. Launches of commercial evolution

By far the best wave of Unova releases, Niantic celebrated the introduction of Trade Evolution with some of the most interesting and exclusive Pokémon in the game. On January 10, 2020, they launched Roggenrola, Timburr, Tympole, Throh, Sawk, Venepede, Basculin, Maractus, Dwebble, Sigilyph, Tirtouga, Archen, Trubbish, Karrablast, Joltik, Axew and Shelmet. It’s hard to believe that all of these incredible species were released at once looking back, but Pokémon GO I really did that. Conkeldurr and Gigalith remain some of the most useful of their kind in the game, with Conkeldurr especially shaking the raid target.

2. Espurr

Before the main release of Kalos, Pokémon GO sparked Espurr online for days before a surprise release. While some have criticized this as underwhelming due to the lack of a Shiny release, I personally found it to be a creative, interactive and fun way to celebrate the first release of a Pokémon Kalos. It’s been a long time since I saw so much hype in raid groups about a non-Shiny Pokémon in raids. Espurr was also an excellent first choice, due to his intriguing knowledge, fantastic design and interesting evolutionary line.

1. Galarian Ponyta & Sirfetch’d

While those who played the main series games were excited about the release of The Crown Tundra expansion, Niantic’s success Pokémon GO players with a tie: the release of Sirfetch’d through evolution and Galarian Ponyta through attacks. This was not only the most exciting Galarian launch yet, but it also gave an extra fun challenge: to evolve a Galarian Farfetch’d into Sirfetch’d, the Pokémon had to be your friend while you completed an Excellent Launch challenge. In addition, Galarian Ponyta is one of the best designs in the game and you didn’t even have to break in to get one. After the launch event was over, Galarian Ponyta was created for a common incubation on 7 km gift eggs. A perfect launch.
