Bengals send offer to Kenny Golladay

THE Kenny Golladay the news cycle continues to develop. Shortly after the visit of former Lions Giants receiver surfaced, ESPN.com’s Dianna Russini, reports that the Bengals made an offer to Golladay (Twitter link)

Other teams are also in Golladay, according to Russini, but he plans to visit New York to meet with the Giants’ bosses. The Bengals just saw AJ Green defect for the Cardinals, but the team is also quite well positioned in the receiver.

Bengals’ offer does not appear to have changed its position for Golladay. Cincinnati proposed what Albert Breer of SI.com characterizes as a one-year “proof” contract (Twitter link) Although Golladay can move back to Bengals, he will continue his free agency process.

Cincinnati had a glimpse of the quality of Tee Higgins‘potential last season, and Tyler Boyd is signed in the long term. Green played in a $ 18 million franchise last season, opening a spot for Golladay to work with Joe Burrow. Bengals have used some high choices in receivers in recent years, from Higgins to Boyd and John Ross. The latter, one of the top 10 options, agreed to the Giants’ terms this week.

Although the Bengals are not traditionally known for big off-season spending, they strayed from their normal course last year by hiring some expensive free agents. Golladay is coming out of a season in which tendon and hip disease limited him to five games, but the 1,000-yard winner twice would certainly qualify as a spectacular addition. With the Giants in the race and the Dolphins being linked to the four-year-old veteran before the market opens, this hiring will not come cheap.
