Bell Ringer Sixers: Embiid-less Sixers trail wire to wire at a loss to the pistons

Note: There is no traditional recap post for tonight’s game. Let the comments fly here.

Sixers Bell Ringer season ranking:

Joel Embiid – 8
Tobias Harris – 3
Milton Shake – 3
Ben Simmons – 1
Tyrese Maxey – 1
Dakota Mathias – 1

Joel Embiid was left out because of the tightness in his back, which seems to be the team’s favorite phrase this season, when he wants to give him a night off. In his absence, the Sixers looked nothing like a candidate for the Eastern Conference, never holding the lead in a 119-104 loss to the Detroit Pistons. Ben Simmons was in trouble whenever he was on the court and recorded only 21 minutes. The Pistons hit almost twice as many 3s as the Sixers (17 to 9) and converted more than twice as many free throws (32 to 15). It was an uninspired effort from Philadelphia, but we will continue to select a Bell Ringer anyway.

Tobias Harris: 25 points, 7 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 block, 4 plays

NBA: Philadelphia 76ers at the Detroit Pistons

Rick Osentoski-USA TODAY Sports

Tobias was the only starter to step up his game with Embiid away from the pitch, one point behind the season record, hitting 10 out of 19 on the field, including 3 out of 6 out of 3. Harris did his best to kick-start your club, registering 12 points in the first quarter. Unfortunately, he didn’t get much help, as the rest of his teammates only added 11 points and the Sixers lost 34-23 after a period. Harris also tried to pull Philadelphia into an unlikely comeback win, scoring seven points in a three-minute stretch in the middle of the fourth period, but the Sixers were unable to tie any stops. Nice try, good effort, Tobi.

Tony Bradley: 12 points, 9 rebounds, 1 block, 0 turnovers

NBA: Philadelphia 76ers at the Detroit Pistons

Rick Osentoski-USA TODAY Sports

Bradley doesn’t see the ground very often, so it’s not surprising that he has fresh legs and gave the Sixers a good boost off the bench. Tony was active outside the glass, collecting four offensive rebounds for a handful of rebounds. Unlike his central comrade Dwight Howard, Bradley did not run after blocks and allow for easy second chance opportunities. His solid game earned him the start in the second part of Doc Rivers.

Tyrese Maxey: 17 points, 2 rebounds, 1 assist, 3 steals, 1 turnover

NBA: Philadelphia 76ers at the Detroit Pistons

Rick Osentoski-USA TODAY Sports

Maxey exhibited a good explosion and good defensive instincts in a handful of moves. In addition to reaching the cup, Tyrese made the shot work; his two 3-point strokes came in the trash, but it’s still great to see those strokes hitting him.
