Behold, The Scarlet Witch – Deadline

Warning: the following recap of WandaVision, Episode 9 “The Series Finale” contains some important spoilers:

First of all, if the episode title is any indication, we will definitely not have a second season of WandaVision.

Marvel boss Kevin Feige told the press at TCA last week “never to say never” when it comes to a second season of the Elizabeth Olsen-Paul Bettany Disney + Marvel series, but it is now clear that the series will bridge the gap for the movies Captain Marvel 2 (or near Disney + Secret Invasion series) as expected and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

On how the finale directed by Matt Shakman and written by Jac Schaeffer extends to these great photos, read on. However, to clarify some important things that some have been waiting for and have not occurred: The great villain Mephisto never revealed himself and, from this moment on, Agnes’ husband, Ralph, does not appear to be Mephisto. Later in the episode, when Monica Rambeau (Teyonah Parris) learns while hiding with Evan Peters’ Mercury, he turns out to be an actor named Ralph Bohner. Logically, it is the “Ralph” whom Agnes (Kathryn Hahn) always referred to as her husband. In another ‘duh’, Evan Peters’ character is not really Pietro Maximoff. Also, aside from today’s episode, it is unclear how “The Series Finale” connects to the next Sony / Marvel episode Spider-Man: no way home movie. If that is the case, we will learn more in December.

While we were all waiting on the edge of our seats for big revelations tonight, WandaVisionThe last episode of ‘ends favorably, though predictably: Good triumphs over evil, that is, Agnes does not rule the day; and Wanda turns into the Scarlet Witch as expected.

All that said, there is a moment of anguish: Will Wanda ever see her family again, that is, her husband Vision and the boys Billy and Tommy? And if so, when? Fast forward to the second of the two final credit strings and we see Wanda, far away, isolated in a cabin in a wilderness of snowy mountains. While she enjoys a cup of tea on the porch, her alter ego, the Scarlet Witch is busy inside, examining the Darkhold Book of Agnes (also known as the Book of Curse) and from a distance, Scarlet hears the screams of Tommy and Billy calling for your help.

The first coda belongs to Monica. While she is cleaning up the wreckage of Agnes and Wanda’s fight in Westview town square, with Hayward (Josh Stamberg) trapped at a distance, she is called into a movie theater (which looks a lot like Disney Burbank, CA) by an FBI agent who turns out to be a Skrull (you know, one of the aliens from Captain Marvel) Setting up the transfer for the sequence, Skrull says to Monica: “He heard that you were punished. He would like to meet with you. ”Monica smiles. ‘He’ is believed to be Samuel L. Jackson’s Nick Fury. Fury was last seen following final credits on a spacecraft in Spider-Man: Far from Home. So Monica’s next journey with Fury will be in Captain Marvel 2 or with him and the leader Skrull Talos (Ben Mendelsohn) in Secret invasion. Moments earlier, during the closing of the episode, one of Monica’s farewell conversations with Wanda is “If I had the chance and if I had the power, I would bring my mother back. I know you do. “Wanda replies:” I’m sorry. For all the pain I caused. I don’t understand this power, but I will understand. “

Other important moments that happened during “The Series Finale”:

There are many fights between Agnes and Wanda. Remember episode 8, Agnes absorbs energy and this becomes Wanda’s constant headache over how to beat her throughout the episode. We started “The Series Finale” with Agnes wearing a purple chain around Tommy and Billy’s throats. Wanda is viable and releases them with a red lightning bolt on Agnes’ chest. Like Darth Vader teaching Luke Skywalker a thing or two about the dark side during a lightsaber fight, we have this happening with the confrontation between Agnes and Wanda here. “The Scarlet Witch was not born, she was forged,” Agnes teaches Wanda during the battle. “I’m not a witch, I don’t cast spells, nobody taught me magic,” cries Wanda. “It is your destiny to destroy the world,” says Agnes before torturing several citizens of Westview, whom Wanda runs to save.

“You tied your family to this twisted world and now you can’t live without either,” says Agnes, “Save Westview or save your family.”

Later, in the final confrontation between Agnes and Wanda, it seems that the latter lost after hitting the former with enough red rays. Wanda looks exhausted, but, unfortunately, it is Agnes without power, as the former recovers her energy.

“In a given space, only the witch who conjures them can use her magic,” Wanda tells Agnes of using the Runes, “Thanks for the lesson. But I don’t need you to tell me who I am ”. And the red witch ears begin to form on Wanda’s head as she absorbs all of Agnes’ power and becomes the Scarlet Witch in her full uniform red dress. “Oh God. You don’t know what you did,” says Agnes. The two float back to Westview town square, where Wanda’s punishment for Agnes is making her the nosy neighbor in Westview indefinitely.

–A hysterical line tonight, “Guys, deal with the military, Mom will be back,” Wanda instructs Billy and Tommy about pulling Hayward’s troops out of the town square.

Vision, what about him? While Agnes and Wanda fight throughout the episode, so does Hayward’s White Vision and Wanda’s “Conditional” Vision. White Vision appears initially and Wanda thinks it is really him; he takes her face in his hands and starts crushing it. But then the “Conditional” View appears and takes you down. There are many crashes, bangs, booms between the “Conditional” Vision and the White Vision. The latter is programmed to eliminate the “Conditional View”. But then “Conditional Vision” logically convinces White Vision that he is not the guy he is looking for. The “conditional” Vision scans the memories of the White Vision, which runs through all the regular moments of the Vision in the MCU until Thanos destroys it, and in a moment of clarity, the White Vision declares “I am the Vision” and advances to heaven and it disappears. End of it.

Towards the end, Wanda and Vision take their children home to put them to bed. Wanda has Hex dissipating in Westview. As they approach their home, Wanda and Vision know that it is his temporary end, as well as a long nap for the boys. Wanda and Vision see the red Hex coming, and he knows it’s the end, for a while. He may be back at some point in the future, but he understands that he cannot live in Wanda’s world right now. In a moment of tears, Vision asks Wanda: “What am I?” She replies: “You, Vision, are the piece of the mind stone that lives in me. You are a body of threads, blood and bones that I created. You are my sadness and my hope. But mostly, you are my love. “

And if that didn’t make you cry, then you have Thanos’ cold heart.
