Seven months after the pandemic brought the Atlanta Hawks’ season to an unwanted end, it was time for a Southern California meeting to bring them together again.
Coach Lloyd Pierce and all of the Hawks’ returnees would meet for a team-building moment, with all sorts of planned activities that he hoped would help in their chemistry towards a season that everyone knew would be under pressure. There was basketball pick-up against other NBA players, a boxing class where they faced off and group dinners where topics included, among other things, the next election.
But the real main event came when Pierce and Trae Young met in private to discuss their next third year together.
