As previously reported, WWE launched Steve Cutler.
According to Fightful Select, Cutler was pressured after he left WWE after hiring COVID-19 in January. It was noted that the heat came specifically from Vince McMahon, and the belief of some people behind the scenes is that this was the reason for the launch.
Cutler was actually present at the WWE Performance Center when he offered to take a leap into the “big man” class that is going on there. It was noted that Cutler was a welcome and familiar face at the facility and was well liked.
According to the report, WWE indicated that the “door was open” for Cutler to return on the line.
Cutler, along with Wesley Blake and Jaxson Ryker, were called up for the SmackDown brand last April. The group was pulled from television last June after a controversial tweet from Ryker praising Donald Trump shortly after George Floyd’s death. Cutler posted a tweet apparently distancing himself from Ryker, writing: “Although I’m part of a team while fighting, I’m my own person with my own thoughts and beliefs. It hurts to see what’s going on in the world. I fought for the freedom of our country and of ALL the people who live here. No matter your race or how you identify yourself, we are ALL human beings and we ALL deserve to be equal. #JusticeForGeorgeFloyd ”
Cutler and Blake briefly returned to television last December as part of a faction with Baron Corbin, but the group was quickly withdrawn.
