Despite losing to the Packers on Sunday, the Bears escaped into the playoffs at 8-8.
With the Wild Card round on the horizon, they prepare to head to New Orleans to face the 12-4 Saints in the opening round of the NFL postseason. As you would expect for each team’s respective record, the Bears face great chances of winning.
The Bears are listed as ten-point underdogs against the Saints next Sunday at 15:40 CST. As the NFC seed # 7 goes on the road against a seed # 2, the odds are against them to make any noise in the playoff opening round.
Not all hopes are lost for Chicago, however. The two teams faced off in the 8th week of the regular season and, although Saints won 26-23 in overtime, Bears stood firm against a superior opponent and, at various points in the game, seemed likely to win the upset.
Although a victory against Santos is possible, it still seems highly unlikely, and bettors don’t seem to be very excited about this possibility.
Your chances at the Super Bowl are also not incredibly favorable. They are currently having the second least chance of winning the Super Bowl in the league at +7333 going into the playoffs, giving them an approximately 1.35 percent chance of winning their first championship since 1985. The only team they lose is the Washington Football Team, which infiltrated as the No. 4 seed after beating NFC East 7-9.
At their peak, the Bears received +2800 Super Bowl chances on October 20, just two days after improving to 5-1 with a victory over the Panthers. Their low point came on December 7, when they received a +25,000 line after dropping to 5-7 with their 34-30 loss to the Lions. After a streak of three straight wins and some luck falling in their way with outside forces, however, Chicago found itself winning the playoffs when the Cardinals lost to Rams on Sunday.
While the Bears consider themselves underdogs to achieve any success in the playoffs, let alone win the Super Bowl, anything can happen in the NFL. With an expanded postseason, there is an even greater chance of the unpredictable occurring.
