Bears continue to explore quarterback options, including Carson Wentz

So far, it has been a low season with many defenders for the NFL, which has presented real rumors or negotiations with big-name defenders, including Deshaun Watson and Matthew Stafford.

The last quarterback in the spotlight is Carson Wentz, from Philadelphia, who is expected to trade shortly after a fall. And, as you would expect, the Chicago Bears were involved in all of these discussions. This is what happens when your general manager and head coach have another year to solve a decades-old quarterback problem with this franchise.

There are rumors circulating all over the place about the Bears and Wentz that it’s hard to know what to believe. But that is true, according to reliable sources across the league – the Bears are very interested in negotiating for Wentz.

Mike Garafolo of the NFL Network emphasized this, although he was also quick to point out that any negotiations do not appear to be imminent. Garafolo said the Eagles and the two main contenders for Wentz in the Bears and Indianapolis Colts are all “playing poker”. Basically, Philadelphia is waiting for an offer that it likes while Chicago and Indianapolis explore their options.

Bears recently promoted quarterback coach John DeFilippo to take over the game coordinator, which almost seems like a prelude to Wentz’s potential landing in Chicago. DeFilippo trained Wentz in his first two seasons in the league, which included his participation as an MVP in 2017.

It is no coincidence that the Bears and Colts are the two teams that show the most interest, as each has a coach who worked with Wentz during his impressive second year season at DeFilippo and Colts coach Frank Reich.

Although the Bears, like the rest of the league, hope that the Houston Texans will give in and trade Watson, this is a dream right now. So, with limited options and the 20th overall choice, Wentz may be the best option right now – at the right price, of course.
