Beach volleyball number 2 goes to South Carolina for the Gamecock Grand Slam

TALLAHASSEE, Florida. – The second beach volleyball team from the state of Florida (17-0) is going to Columbia, SC this weekend to compete in the Gamecock Grand Slam. The Seminoles will play all four matches against qualified opponents. FSU faces No. 17 Georgia State (09:00) and No. 16 Stetson (13:00) on Saturday, March 27 and No. 9 TCU (9:00 am) and No. 15 South Carolina (1: 00: 00) on Sunday, March 28th.

FSU has a 49-1 combo against his opponents this weekend and enters the Gamecock Grand Slam ranked No. 2 on the AVCA top-20. Seminoles were ranked in the top 5 out of 48 out of the AVCA’s top 54 out of 20 since beach volleyball became an NCAA sport in 2016. The state of Florida is in the top 7 out of all 54 polls.

The State of Florida opens the weekend at 9:00 am on Saturday, March 27, against No. 17 of the State of Georgia. The state of Florida is 11-1 against the Panthers and 8-1 against GSU in a neutral location. The two teams faced off at the start of the season at LSU, resulting in a 5-0 FSU victory.

Garnet and Gold complete the first day of the Gamecock Grand Slam against No. 16 Stetson at 1pm. FSU is undefeated against Hatters, with a perfect 14-0 record. The two teams met last week at the FAU Beach Bash in Paradise; The state of Florida won 4-1 with wins on courts two through five.

The Seminoles start playing on Saturday, March 28, at 9 am, against nº 9 of the TCU. The state of Florida is 8-0 against the TCU and has handed only two courts to the Horned Frogs in its eight meetings. The State of Florida defeated TCU 5-0 in the tournament from March to May earlier this season.

FSU ends the weekend game at 1:00 pm on March 28 against the tournament host and 15th from South Carolina. The state of Florida is 15-0 at all times against the Gamecocks. The Seminoles have surrendered only six courts in their 15 meetings and FSU is 2-0 in Columbia.
