CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Virginia – The baseball team Cosby High School is mourning the loss of player Steele Kirwan, who died after a long battle with cancer.
The senior Cosby’s shirt was placed on the baseball field in his honor on Saturday afternoon.
The baseball team remembered the teenager as a “great teammate, boy, youth and friend”.
The team said Kirwan was “a fighter like no other”, which made them stronger and taught them to never take anything for granted.
Today we have lost one of the most difficult children I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. He was a fighter like no other, who made us stronger and taught us to never take anything for granted. Our thoughts and prayers go to the family. Cosby baseball will be Steele Strong forever! pic.twitter.com/XNxClqwH7k

“Our thoughts and prayers go to the family,” wrote the team coach. “Cosby baseball will be Steele Strong forever!”
Kirwan’s father said his son was his hero and his best friend.
The family is asking you to keep them in your prayers. However, they requested that no one meet at the college as a precaution because of the pandemic.
