Are consecutive seasons on the way?
The last episode of the HBO black humor series Barry aired in May 2019. And, in fact, it’s a long time to be without a new episode of Barry. If you’re wondering the details of what happened, co-creator / star Bill Hader spilled the beans last night Late night with Seth Meyers (you can see the clip below, below).
Apparently, the third season of Barry I was going to shoot before things were closed because of the coronavirus. “Right when the blockade happened in March, we were a week away from firing,” said Hader. “The last time I was in a room with a lot of people was the table read for episodes 1 and 2 of the third season. The third season is completely written and ready to go. ”
But it looks like downtime was productive for Hader and his Barry collaborators, including co-creator Alec Berg. “During that time, we wrote the entire 4th season, so we have it all done,” Hader revealed to Meyers. “We are waiting to start shooting again.”
Previously, we had talked to Hader Barry Co-star Stephen Root, who said he was trying to convince HBO to let them shoot the two consecutive seasons, which makes sense from a logistical and creative point of view (when you’re in the area, why not stay there?) Los Angeles’ filming has been constant, with the virus getting out of control in Southern California and most productions stopped until at least mid-January. It is not clear when Barrythe potential for consecutive shots could start (and how long it would last). But considering that the program is one of the most felt, inventively staged and constantly rewarding series on television (in a somewhat conventional 30-minute sitcom format), the sooner Barry get here, the better. We need it.
