HBO has yet to renew “Barry” for a fourth season, but that hasn’t stopped the show’s writing staff from remaining productive in recent months.

There is still no indication as to when the cast and crew behind HBO’s hit “Barry” will be able to film season 3, but the good news is that the show’s staff has written the entire third and fourth seasons of the show.

Series star Bill Hader discussed the status of “Barry” during a recent interview on “Late Night With Seth Meyers”. Although HBO has yet to renew “Barry” for a fourth season, it hasn’t stopped the show’s writers from staying productive, while Hollywood production problems prevent the crew from filming.

“Right when the blockade happened in March, we were a week away from firing,” said Hader. “The last time I was in a room with a lot of people was the table read for Episodes 1 and 2 of season 3 and we were ready to go. And then it was all over. Season 3 is completely written and ready to go, and during that time we actually wrote Season 4, so we’re both done. We’re just waiting until we can start shooting again. “

“Barry” centers on a professional killer who stumbles into an acting class in Los Angeles and begins to question his life choices. Both “Barry” seasons have received critical acclaim; Ben Travers of IndieWire praised the show’s second season in his grade A review and offered particular praise for the show’s mix of desolation and comedy.

“It is darker, more intense and seems to mark many of the warning signs listed above. However, just as its original premise is the kind of field that shouldn’t be touched – but it does, and it does very well – so is its second season a brilliant paradox, ”said Travers in his second season review. “For every step that co-creators Alec Berg and Bill Hader dig deeper into Barry’s haunted past, the growing shadows provide only the sharpest edges for the cutting comedy in the HBO series. If “Barry” played it safe during parts of season 1, it’s not anymore. Darkness and light combine perfectly with each other, creating yet another fascinating and hilarious season, determined to be true to its own distorted identity. “
