Barry Gibb reaches top 5 debut on Billboard album sales chart

Among the songs played in green fields are the 10 biggest hits on the Billboard Hot 100 “I’ve Gotta Get a Message to You”, “Too Much Heaven”, “Jive Talkin ‘” and “How Deep Is Your Love”, all written by Barry and his late brothers Maurice and Robin Gibb.

The chart’s history dates back to May 25, 1991, the first week Advertising panel started tabbing charts with part count information electronically monitored from SoundScan, now MRC Data. Pure album sales were the measurement used exclusively by the Billboard 200 album table through the list dated December 6, 2014, after which the table changed to a methodology that combines album sales with equivalent album units of equivalent streaming track and album units. As for the rest of the top 10 on the last album sales chart, Morgan Wallen’s Dangerous: the double album, comes in first with 74,000 copies sold. The set is also released at the top of the Billboard 200 chart and Top Country Albums.

Taylor Swift’s former No. 1 Ever and Folklore are No. 3 and No. 4 on the most popular album sales chart, below No. 1 and No. 2 the previous week, with 14,000 sold (down 8%) and 10,000 sold (down 4%), respectively.

Former Harry Styles leader Thin line falls 4-5 with 8,000 sold (down 12%), NCT’s Resonance, Pt. 1 goes down 3-6 with 7,500 (down 23%) and Jazmine Sullivan’s new album Heaux Tales bows in No. 7 with 7,000 sold. The latter also starts at No. 4 on the Billboard 200 and at No. 1 on the Top R&B Albums chart.

Chris Stapleton’s Starting again 6-8 drops in sales of major albums, with 6,500 (down 11%), former number 1 Paul McCartney McCartney III drops 5-9 with 6,000 (drop 35%) and the soundtrack stops Guardians of the Galaxy: Awesome Mix Vol. 1 goes up 12-10 with 5,000 sold (down 9%).
