Former New York Times columnist and editor Bari Weiss scoffed at his former employer on Thursday, saying that Lady Gray published a “press release” about Vice President Kamala Harris’ stepdaughter.
Weiss seemed to feel that the paper lived up to its reputation for favoring liberals by publishing a story praising Harris’s stepdaughter for receiving a model contract.
The piece entitled, “Ella Emhoff wins a major modeling contract”, called her a “breakout star” at the inauguration, The Daily Wire signaled.
LOS ANGELES TIMES MOCKED AFTER DEDICATING A NEW BEAT TO CELEBRATE KAMALA HARRIS: ‘BLATTING HAGIOGRAPHY’
“A week after the Miu Miu coat she wore in President Biden’s oath went viral, Ella Emhoff, Vice President Kamala Harris’ 21-year-old stepdaughter, became the youngest face at IMG Models, one of the agency’s most prestigious models in the world, “Times reporters Vanessa Friedman and Jessica Testa wrote
The report featured IMG Models president cajoling Emhoff, promoted everything from his Instagram account to his tattoos, and stated that the fashion world is embracing the Biden government’s “focus on diversity and empathy” after four “antagonistic” years of dealing with the Trump administration.

“Emhoff throws a crochet grenade at the image of a typical DC political son, in a style that could be called Wes Anderson chic. In her selfies, she doesn’t wear a lot of makeup and doesn’t carefully dry her naturally curly hair. It shows underarm hair and cartoon tattoos, which include eggs and bacon in the shape of a smiling face and a cow, “reported the Times.
Weiss noticed the shiny piece and mocked it on Twitter.
“A model contract (!!)” talks about the growing acceptance of the Biden government’s fashion world, with its focus on diversity and empathy, after four antagonistic years with the Trump administration, “Weiss wrote.” Please enjoy this press release! “
Weiss published a scathing resignation letter in July, which she sent to the Times editor, AG Sulzberger, on her personal website. She said she was intimidated by colleagues for her unorthodox views in a “non-liberal environment”.
She added that she does not understand how toxic behavior is allowed inside the newsroom and “showing up to work as a centrist in an American newspaper shouldn’t require bravery.”
Weiss was not the only person to criticize the Times article, with others like Conor Friedersdorf of The Atlantic, noting that the Times did not mention that Emhoff probably got the deal because of his famous stepmother.
