The Chiefs had to isolate two players this week when it was revealed that a barber with COVID-19 cut his hair. But it could have been much worse.

The same barber was assigned to cut the hair of Patrick Mahomes and at least 20 other Chiefs players and employees, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

The Chiefs had arranged for the barber to take a COVID-19 test and he was removed from his duties when the test was positive. The barber found he was sure while he was cutting Daniel Kilgore’s hair at the Chiefs’ center. He had already cut Demarcus Robinson’s hair from the wide receiver, so the two were placed on the COVID-19 reserve list and will isolate until they have negative results for five days. The barber, Kilgore and Robinson were wearing masks during their haircuts and, so far, Kilgore and Robinson have continued to test negative.

The Chiefs dodged a bullet when the result of the barber’s test came back just as fast. And with the Super Bowl now less than five days away, it is imperative that all players be extremely cautious about close contacts with anyone. Close contact with someone with a positive result today would result in an isolated player even after the Super Bowl.
