Baltimore State Attorney Marilyn Mosby, whose career was spurred on by Vice President Kamala Harris, now faces a federal investigation with a series of subpoenas.
Baltimore’s powerful couple, Marilyn and Nick Mosby, are the target of an investigation by the federal grand jury, with investigators issuing several subpoenas, including one for Union Baptist Church, show documents obtained by FOX45. Nick Mosby is the president of the Baltimore City Council.

The investigators delivered a subpoena to the church, investigating whether the Mosbys had made a donation to the church and, if so, how much. Robert Fulton Dashiell, the lawyer for Union Baptist Church, confirmed the investigation, telling FOX45 that the Mosbys’ donation was under $ 200.
“I spend more monthly on Starbucks than the Mosbys gave during the period,” said Dashiell.

The Mosbys had a guarantee filed against their home by the IRS in October 2020 for $ 45,000 in unpaid taxes.
Nick Mosby issued a statement defending himself, saying he had been in negotiations with the IRS for half a decade because of the “tax consequences of an early withdrawal of [his] retirement savings plan. “
“I have been talking to the IRS continuously for five years about the tax consequences of an early withdrawal from my retirement savings plan, which I did to support unplanned expenses after a series of family tragedies,” said Mosby. “I hope to have the problem resolved in the next few days.”

The couple’s lawyer also said he advised the pair to “abstain” from making further comments to the media.
