New York will soon present the Excelsior Pass, a card that proves that you have had the Covid-19 vaccine or have a recent negative test to enter events and business.
“Similar to a mobile airline’s boarding pass, individuals will be able to print their card or store it on their smartphones using the Excelsior Pass Wallet app,” the press release announcing the ‘passports’ read.
Businesses and locations will be able to scan a unique code for each passport and see the Covid-19 history of the person in front of them. The app will not show you a detailed medical history, but just a simple message that you are or are not vaccinated, or have or have not been tested recently.

“An individual’s data is kept safe and confidential at all times,” promises to press release.
Madison Square Garden and the Times Union Center are already set to start using the app in the next few days. On April 2, the app will be expanded to smaller locations in the state.
Governor Andrew Cuomo, who is currently facing a series of personal and professional controversies, celebrated the Excelsior Pass as the first of its kind and called “The question of ‘public health or the economy’” one “False choice.”
“The question of ‘public health or economics’ has always been a false choice – the answer must be both,” the governor said in a statement. “As more New Yorkers are vaccinated each day and major public health measures continue to regularly reach their lowest rates in months, the nation’s first Excelsior Pass heralds the next step in our careful, science-based reopening. “
Today we launched the Excelsior Pass, a free platform for businesses and individuals that can be used to easily access the secure evidence of a recent COVID test or negative vaccination. It is the first tool of its kind to help NY fight COVID as we safely reopen our economy. Know more:

Numerous officials have already suggested the idea of ’vaccination passports’ or proof of vaccination being required for people to travel or meet in larger locations. White House health advisor Anthony Fauci said “Immunity cards” would be “possible” last year, saying that demanding this paperwork was “Being discussed.”
The idea generated a wave of resistance, especially on the part of the Republicans. Governor Ron DeSantis (R-Florida) announced this week that “Vaccine passports” area “Terrible idea” and “Totally out of the question” for your state.
