He is running. In Johnson’s “new comedy about outrageous youth”, Dwayne Johnson remembers his life – through the perspective of an “interview” with a reporter (played by Fresh off the boatRandall Park) as he prepares to run for president in 2032. This is just a meta-joke about how the internet wants Johnson to run for president (ooh, don’t open that can of worms) or it is a real Tease that he keeping an eye on the White House?

Before we have time to reflect on this issue, Young Rock takes us into the life of child Dwayne Johnson, growing up in Hawaii in a family of fighters, including his beloved fighter father Rocky Johnson (Joseph Lee Anderson) Next, he takes us through the rest of his pre-fame life, as a 1.90, 225-pound 15-year-old boy who everyone believed to be an undercover cop after he was transferred to a school in Nashville. The trailer shows the three actors playing Johnson at different times in his life: Adrian Groulx like Johnson, 10, Bradley Constant like Johnson, 15, and Uli Latukefu like Johnson, aged 18-20.

“We are going to find Young Rock, for example, wreaking havoc on the streets of Hawaii when I was a very young teenager, being arrested apparently every week, doing many things I shouldn’t be doing,” Johnson said at the Television Critics Association presentation of last year, where NBC announced the comedy series. “Still a good boy. Then, of course, we were expelled from the island and forced to leave the island and move everywhere in Nashville, Tennessee, where I again continued to have problems. Then we entered my high school years and then Young Rock as a football star at the University of Miami, if you will – until I was defeated from my position by a guy named Warren Sapp, who happened to became one of the greatest defensive tackles of all time. “

Young Rock debuts on NBC in February 16, 2021.
