Baby born with three penises makes medical history

Good things come in three?

An Iraqi boy undoubtedly recorded his name on the phallic hall of fame after he was born with a colossal penis trio.

“As far as we know, this is the first reported case with three penises or triphallia,” wrote Dr. Shakir Saleem Jabali in a study on the three-member youth published in the International Journal of Surgery Case Reports.

The baby, a Duhok Kurd, was originally taken to the hospital by his parents when he was 3 months old due to a swollen scrotum. However, when he arrived, doctors noted that he had some extras – a 2 cm (0.8 inch) member sprouting near the root of his main penis and another 1 centimeter long schlong located under his sac.

The Hydra-esque anomaly was particularly mysterious because the child had not been exposed to drugs in the womb and did not have a family history of genetic aberrations, the study authors reported.

Unfortunately, it appears that the boy’s potential future as the world’s first three-pointed porn star has been nipped in the bud: since Three Willy’s additional phalluses lacked an urethra – the tube through which urine passes – doctors decided to surgically remove both of them .

Fortunately, the operation went smoothly and the previously three-legged tot was considered to be without problems during a follow-up consultation a year later, according to the case report.

A similar example of lower regions of triplets made headlines in India in 2015, but could not be verified because it was not documented in a medical journal, the Daily Mail reported at the time.

However, despite boasting the only recorded case of triphallia, this latest case study is not the only multi-limb child that exists. First reported in 1609, the condition diphallia – or sporting a pair of penises – affects one in 5 million to 6 million boys, with about 100 registered cases “reported in the literature”, according to the new study.

And, unlike this last penile patient, some of these hip organs can ejaculate and urinate, suggesting that two heads may in fact be better than one.

In fact, an anonymous soul – dubbed the “Double Dick Dude” – went viral in 2015 after it was revealed that he sported two 25cm long functional penises.

Doctors have not yet identified the cause of phallic deformity, but have associated it with other congenital aberrations, such as being born with two scrotums or anus, according to research by the World Health Organization.
