AZDHS to open 12,000 vaccination appointments in UArizona on Friday

TUCSON, Arizona. (KGUN) – Problems scheduling a vaccination appointment? You may want to try again on Friday.

The Arizona Department of Health Services announced that it would open thousands of new consultations on its state-administered vaccination PODs every week on Fridays, starting March 19. This includes the University of Arizona site, along with three others in Phoenix.

The last batch of appointments for the week of March 22-28 will be open at 11am on Friday at the AZDHS vaccine registration website or by calling 1-844-542-8201. AZDHS will announce on its Twitter and the Facebook pages the number of appointments available on each site each week. This week, the University of Arizona website will open 12,000 consultations on Friday.

Those currently eligible to be vaccinated according to state guidelines in Pima and Maricopa counties are:

  • Anyone aged 55 or over
  • Food and agriculture workers
  • Grocery, convenience store and butchery workers
  • US Postal Workers
  • Manufacturing workers
  • Public transport workers, including buses, city trains, Uber, Lyft, taxis and trams
  • State and local government officials
  • Funeral home employees

So far, more than 1 million Arizonans have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
