Axios excludes Harris tweet fact check says Biden admin ‘starting from scratch’ with vaccine launch

Axios drew criticism on Monday after deleting a tweet from Vice President Kamala Harris, who echoed the dismissed claim that the Biden government is “starting from scratch” with the launch of the coronavirus vaccine.

During an interview with Axios co-founder Mike Allen, who aired on HBO on Sunday, Harris was asked about the difficulties in the government’s response to the pandemic after almost a month in office.

“There was no stock … of vaccines,” Harris replied. “There was no national vaccination strategy or plan. We were leaving it up to states and local leaders to try to find out. And in many ways, we are starting from scratch on something that has been going on for almost an entire year! “

THE RELATIONSHIP OF THE POLITICAL REPORTER AXIOS WITH THE TOP BIDEN EMPLOYEE RAISES ETHICS CONCERNS

Axios shared that exchange on Sunday night, but included a comment from the White House chief medical advisor, Dr. Anthony Fauci, who refuted CNN’s report last month that quoted anonymous Biden employees making the same statement.

“We are certainly not starting from scratch because there is activity going on in distribution,” said Fauci during a press conference at the White House.

This fact-check tweet, however, was later deleted, leading to doubts among the most attentive Twitter users.

“Why did Axios delete this tweet?” The co-host of the podcast “Ruthless” and the conservative personality of Twitter, Comfortably Smug, asked.

WH AIDE TJ DUCKLO TAKES OFF AFTER DEMONSTRATING THE REPORTER DESPITE THE FIRE BIDEN WARNING

“Axios deleting this tweet seems suspicious, given the revelations that a reporter for them covering Kamala Harris is hopelessly in love with a now former member of the Biden government. See the problem now, guys? @Mikeallen” commented conservative commentator Stephen Miller.

“They caught Duckloed,” joked Tablet Magazine associate editor Noam Blum.

Even the left-wing fact checker PolitiFact called the vice president, declaring on Monday that his statement was “wrong”.

As Jerry Dunleavy of the Washington Examiner pointed, Axios reshared the clip of Harris’ conversation with Allen, although the tweet erased Fauci’s comments that contradict the vice president’s statement.

Axios did not immediately respond to Fox News’s request for comment.

This confusion comes in the wake of another Axios-related controversy involving reporter Alexi McCammond and his recently disclosed relationship with former White House deputy press secretary TJ Ducklo, who resigned from the Biden government on Saturday after scolding a Politico reporter. and threaten to “destroy” her by chasing a story about their relationship.

According to Axios, McCammond, previously covered by President Biden during the 2020 election and presidential transition, was transferred to cover “progressive politics” and Vice President Harris for the departure. Critics argued that the move still represented a conflict of interest, as Ducklo still worked for Harris’ boss before his resignation.
