Chris Hemsworth transformed Byron Bay, Australia’s once peaceful seaside town, into the new Hollywood – at least that’s how the locals feel … and they’re angry.
A new news.com.au details the disdain that longtime residents of Byron Bay have for the Hemsworths – especially Chris, who made the area their permanent home – due to the fact that it is attracting more and more celebrities and the baggage that comes with it.
In addition to Chris, other celebrities who occasionally live and / or rent or own homes in the city now include Zac Efron, Mark Wahlberg, Natalie Portman, Matt Damon, Olivia Newton-John, Nicole Kidman, Jack Johnson, Melissa McCarthy – just to name a few. And don’t tell us about the stars you visit early and often … which covers the whole range of the rich and famous.

Sacha Baron Cohen and Isla Fischer recently passed, and also Australian stars like Sam Burgess, Katie Richie, Michelle Bridges. It has become a who’s who place – which many Normie residents resent … as the vibe of their once peaceful city is now flooded with limousines, tourists, paparazzi, rising housing prices and commercialism like never before .
One person described being thrown out of his home because his landlady wanted to turn the crib into an Airbnb – which is emblematic of what many Byron Bay residents say is happening … they are being eliminated and driven from a city they know like home.

Ironically, the news.com.au article describes Chris Hemsworth – whose fortress of a property apparently he became a landmark for navigation – as a man who does not belong so much to the people. He is rarely seen in the city and keeps his family and affairs private.
Residents say it is rich that he wants seclusion, considering that he invited just the opposite to come into their lives … putting them on the map, in the worst possible ways.
