Audi RS6 faces BMW M5, AMG E63 S in drag race in the wet for German supremacy

When we talk about German luxury car brands, Audi, Mercedes-Benz and BMW are at each other’s throat. Porsche also exists, but the Stuttgart-based automaker is not included in this latest video upload from Carwow.

Presented in this weekend’s drag race are three recently updated hitters: the Audi RS6 Avant, the BMW M5 Competition and the Mercedes-AMG E63 S. You may already have a candidate based on the names I mentioned, but this race in line straight is a little bit different and this is because of something the UK is known for.

Rain, rain and more rain, Mat Watson explained that his team had to keep going with the race, despite the slippery surface because of the logistics. Quite understandably, and we agree with the reference to Formula One in its explanation.

Given the road conditions, it was not necessarily a battle of numbers between these German performance models. Sending power to the ground was equivalent, and in that respect, the Audi RS6 Avant and its Quattro all-wheel-drive system won the spotlight despite being the heaviest and least powerful – but that is limited to the permanent 400-meter race .

In a continuous race, however, it was a close race between the BMW M5 Competition and the Mercedes-AMG E63 S. With a few adjustments to the changeover time, Merc proved its worth, staying ahead of the Bimmer while remaining unpaved. The Audi van, however, was relegated to being a spectator.

Needless to say, this video is perfect proof that racing is not just about numbers, especially in drag racing where there are many factors that can affect results. Watch the entire race in the video embedded at the top of this page and let us know what you think in the comments section below.
