Audi and BMW terminate car subscription programs

More car subscription services are facing problems. According Autoblog, Automotive News I heard that Audi and BMW are shutting down and interrupting their services. Audi is ending its Select program on January 31 without mention of a revival, while Access by BMW, exclusive to Nashville, is closing as the automaker develops the “next iteration” of the service.

The two brands did not elaborate their decisions. When Mercedes-Benz closed the Collection, however, it cited a mediocre demand and complaints about the difficulties of exchanging personal items between vehicles. Although it was not mentioned at the time, the COVID-19 pandemic did not help much. People are moving less, if at all, and may be more interested in saving money than in the flexibility of changing cars.
