Auburn will not have a prominent cornerback in the Citrus Bowl

Auburn will face Northwestern in the Citrus Bowl without his top cornerback.

Roger McCreary will not be available for the game, sources told AL.com.

This will create some challenges for the Tigers secondary, especially with Auburn also expected to be without the nickel behind Christian Tutt. McCreary leads the team with three interceptions.

But while the two will be out, a different defense from Tigers, which shouldn’t be available for the game, may end up playing.

After originally indicating to people around the program that he would not play, safety Jamien Sherwood – who was recovering from an ankle injury – changed his mind and traveled with the team to Florida, according to sources.

Sherwood, a potential NFL Day 2 draft, ranks third in the Tigers with 65 tackles.
