NASHVILLE, Tennessee (WTVF / LEX 18) – An outage has affected telephone and internet service for AT&T customers in Middle Tennessee and Kentucky, including some EMS lines in the area.
AT&T confirmed that the drop is related to this morning’s explosion in downtown Nashville. WTVF is receiving reports that coverage from AT&T and DirecTV is also being affected.
Several local law enforcement agencies reported interruptions and listed alternative numbers for residents to call in an emergency.
“Service for some customers in Lexington and the surrounding area could be affected by damage to our facilities caused by the explosion in Nashville this morning,” said Jim Kimberly, Director of Corporate Communications at At & T. “We are in contact with law enforcement authorities and working as quickly and securely as possible to restore service. “
Kentucky State Police, Rank 1, says it is facing serious problems with calls received at the dispatch center. Dispatch centers in area 911 in the Posto 1 district and some in the Posto 2 district are reporting outages. Station expedition 1 is receiving emergency calls to 911 from Verizon operators at this time. If someone is calling the AT&T network, the police say they may not be able to. It is possible that this problem is occurring statewide in this area.
Posto 1 personnel are asking the public in the Posto 1 district that they cannot pass by calling 911 to use the following telephone numbers: (502) 395-1698, (502) 395-1691, (502) 682-0379 , (502) 682-1025. The public can also call the Mayfield Police Department dispatch line at (270) 856-3749 and (270) 856-4013.
Whether you call to report an emergency or not, be patient with the dispatch team, as Posto 1 is receiving all calls right now. Also, inform dispatch personnel about your location so that first responders can respond in the correct location.
It is unclear when the service will be restored.
This is a developing story.
