AT&T and Cox reached a multiyear agreement to maintain Cox Media Group stations on DirecTV and AT&T TV. The deal comes just in time for customers to watch the Super Bowl LV at their local CBS station in the affected markets.
The channels were canceled last week, when the two companies failed to reach an agreement before the February 2 midnight deadline, prompting AT&T and the American Television Alliance to accuse Cox of using this weekend’s game. to get more money from AT&T.
“This latest planned blackout holding a national event as important as the hostage of the Super Bowl demonstrates how broadcasters like the Cox Media Group intentionally cause maximum disruption and harm to consumers in order to extract exorbitant fees,” said the ATVA spokeswoman. Jessica Kendust.
