Prominent members of the Atlus team wrote their aspirations for 2021 in Famitsu. Since last year’s aspirations, Shin Megami Tensei V became more visible after a new trailer and launch window were revealed in July 2020, while Re Fantasy Project hasn’t added any yet. Kazuhisa Wada also joined the conversation to remind everyone that the Persona the series will reach its 25th anniversary in 2021.

We have translated the aspirations of the Atlus team members for 2021 as follows.

Kazuhisa Wada – Persona

“In the midst of an era of reforms in 2020, an even greater impact occurred when I approached the unpredictable present time. It is universally important to stay afloat in the midst of a drastic change in which we do not know what will happen. I still want to find out what needs to be done and move forward without deviations in 2021.

“The project is progressing solemnly. Thank you all, this year is the 25th anniversary of Persona Series! I am thinking of measures to celebrate with everyone, so please wait! “

The first ever title in the Persona Series, Revelations: Persona, was released on the first PlayStation in Japan on September 20, 1996. The original Persona 5 was released in Japan on September 15, 2016, around the 20th anniversary.

Shinjiro Takada – Shin Megami Tensei V

“Many problems happened during development, but we deal with them flexibly with our creative originality, as we continue to pursue high qualities. And I want even more customers to appreciate it.

“About Shin Megami Tensei V, we are eagerly developing it with the intention of making it an even better title. You will have to wait a little longer, but please wait. “

Shin Megami Tensei V is currently in development for Nintendo Switch. It will be released worldwide in 2021.

Katsura Hashino – Re Fantasy Project

“In the midst of a rapid change in the world due to last year’s new coronavirus, the only thing I can do now is to continue my work solemnly. The title I’m currently developing is also reaching its climax. So, since I’m taking things directly, I would like to do my best to offer interesting gameplay to the world.

“I want to reveal the title that I have been developing soon. Please look forward to the fantasy RPG that we, who had done contemporary drama, are trying. “

As a reference to the “contemporary drama” part, Katsura Hashino produced Persona 3 through 5—as Catherine-in the last years. He is currently working on Re Fantasy Project, a new RPG with a fantasy setting.
