Atlanta rapper YFN Lucci surrenders and faces a murder charge

YFN Lucci, whose real name is Rayshawn Bennett, is currently being held in Fulton County Prison, police said. The Atlanta Police announced on Tuesday that he was wanted on charges of intentional homicide, aggravated assault, involvement in street gangs and possession of a firearm while committing a crime.

“The presumption of innocence is a fundamental constitutional right for every citizen. Furthermore, we have no further comment at this time,” said his lawyer, Thomas Reynolds, in a statement to CNN on Wednesday.

“Our review of the initial evidence made available to us indicates that there is no basis for any criminal charges against Rayshawn Bennett,” said Drew Findling, another lawyer for YFN Lucci. “We will continue our own investigation on your behalf.”

Police officers who responded to calls from a person shot at around 5:20 pm on December 10, found James Adams, 28, lying in the street with a gunshot wound to the face, the police incident report said. Adams was taken to a hospital where he died.

Shortly thereafter, a second victim, Kevin Wright, 32, arrived at an area fire station in a private vehicle shot in the abdomen, the report said. Homicide investigators determined that the two shots were probably related.

Three suspects were named in the investigation, including YFN Lucci, 29. The other two suspects were arrested, police said.

YFN Lucci was born in Atlanta and is known for his 2017 hit “Everyday We Lit” and “Wet (She got That …)” from 2020.
