Atlanta Falcons receiver Julio Jones, pivot Alex Mack discarded against the Kansas City Chiefs

FLOWERY BRANCH, Georgia – The Atlanta Falcons declared receiver Julio Jones and pivot Alex Mack for Sunday’s game in Kansas City.

Jones, a seven-time Pro Bowl selection, will miss his third game in a row with a hamstring injury. Mack, six times chosen in the Pro Bowl, will miss his first game of the season due to a concussion.

The third player, left guard James Carpenter, will miss the game due to a groin injury.

Free security Ricardo Allen is listed as questionable with a concussion. Allen was a full participant in the practice Thursday. Returns specialist Brandon Powell (foot) and defensive rookie Marlon Davidson (knee) are listed as questionable.

Russell Gage will start in second place for the receiver, with Calvin Ridley again taking Jones’ place in first place. Matt Hennessy will replace Mack and Justin McCray will replace Carpenter.

The Falcons (4-10) had a free Friday to prepare to face the Chiefs (13-1).

Jones, the active leader of the NFL in 100-yard games with 58, needs another 100-yard game to tie Marvin Harrison for third place on the career list, behind Jerry Rice (76) and Randy Moss (64).
