At the moment, more of us are playing Valheim on Steam than GTA 5 or PUBG • Eurogamer.net

Only Dota 2 and CS: GO feature more simultaneous players.

Valheim may only be available on Early Access now, but that hasn’t stopped it from becoming one of Steam’s biggest games, peaking at nearly 350,000 simultaneous players in just two weeks.

As revealed by SteamCharts, the Nordic fantasy game is currently more popular than multiplayer favorites like PUBG, Apex Legends and even Grant Theft Auto 5, with only Dota 2 and Counter-Strike: Global Offense currently displaying more simultaneous players.

Valheim sold more than 1 million copies in just one week. The Viking-themed survival and craft game was released as an early access title on February 2 and quickly reached the upper echelons of Steam and Twitch.

Valheim developer Iron Gate is advising all players to back up their characters and worlds after they discover that a “world-destroying” bug is restarting progress.

In a tweet, CEO Richard Svensson explained how players can make backups and avoid losing their data to the bug, confirming that, despite trying to reproduce it and resolve the fault, the team has yet to do so. However, Iron Gate suspects that it may be connected to the game’s output via ALT + F4 and not via the menu.
