At the bell: Indiana 63, Maryland 55 – Inside the Hall

Quick thoughts about a 63-55 win over Maryland:

How did this happen: Things looked bleak for Indiana for the first 25 minutes. The Hoosiers lost 37-27 with 15:14 to play in the second half, after Aaron Wiggins from Maryland hit a 3-point basket. With Armaan Franklin on his side due to an ankle injury, Indiana’s attack was kept in neutral.

But the Hoosiers, to their credit, did not give up. They continued to defend a Maryland team that started looking tired. And Indiana started to find some rhythm offensively. At the 11:29 mark, Indiana led 41-40 on a Rob Phinisee tray. Maryland’s attack continued to fail during the final 10 minutes of the game, while Trayce Jackson-Davis hit the pitch offensively. Jackson-Davis scored 17 of his 22 points in the second half to propel Indiana to their second Big Ten victory.

Featured Performer: Jackson-Davis scored his third double-double of the season with 22 points and 15 rebounds. Race Thompson also played a great game and scored a double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds.

Stunning statistics: After failing to hold her first three Big Ten opponents below one point for possession, Indiana smothered the sea turtles defensively. Maryland scored just 0.85 points for possession, the second lowest production of the season for the Terps.
