At least 7 injured after the MTA bus passed the railway at the intersection of the Bronx: Staff

BRONX, New York (WABC) – At least seven people were injured after an MTA bus passed over a track and crashed into the Bronx.

According to the NYPD, an MTA articulated bus was traveling at an intersection on the Cross Bronx Expressway and University Avenue at about 11:10 pm.

Authorities say the bus operator either experienced a brake failure or did not turn correctly and left the road, leaving the bus hanging from the overpass.

The video on Twitter and the Citizen app shows half the bus hanging vertically from the overpass.

The vehicle was guaranteed by the FDNY.

Firefighters say at least seven people were injured. Fortunately, most injuries are not considered fatal.

The driver suffered the most serious injuries and is in serious condition.

All the wounded were taken to a local hospital.

Authorities say no other vehicles were involved in the incident.

The intersection has been closed and a trailer is on its way.
