At least 20 Capitol police officers have COVID-19 after the riot – NBC4 Washington

Some US Capitol Police officials say they are concerned that the January 6 violent riot on Capitol Hill was an over-sprawled COVID-19 event.

At least 20 policemen have active cases of COVID-19, marking the highest number of cases among the bases in months, said a union leader of the Capitol Police.

Dozens of supporters of Donald Trump stormed the Capitol without masks during the rebellion, injuring officials and damaging an icon of American democracy.

The officers were equipped with personal protective equipment.

News4 I-Team reported late last year that dozens of Architect of the Capitol employees and contractors at the Cannon House Office Building contracted the virus.
