Asus updates Zephyrus G14 and G15 with the latest AMD and Nvidia chips

The ROG Zephyrus G14 is one of the best laptops we saw in 2020, in part due to its exceptional Ryzen 9 4900HS processor. Asus has updated the Zephyrus G14 (plus its big brother, the Zephyrus G15) with the latest chips from AMD and Nvidia.

In addition to the chip updates, both models have new display options. The G14 now comes with a 144Hz panel. There is also a 2K 120 Hz model, which Asus says covers the entire DCI-P3 color range. The G15 has a 165 Hz QHD screen, also with 100 percent DCIP-3 coverage.

Asus has also added new animations to its Anime Matrix (the grid of LED lights that cover the cover of the G14). Now there is a virtual pet that can live on the screen and interact with you. This looks really cute (and also potentially weird for the viewers).

The G15 has been somewhat redesigned. He inherited the G14’s ErgoLift hinge, which raises the keyboard deck slightly off the ground to improve cooling (and conveniently hide a little bit from the bottom frame). It also has a larger touchpad than its predecessor – 20% larger, to be precise. Asus also added an additional microphone (there were two and now there are three).

Here it is in “gray eclipse”.

Both models have batteries larger than 90Wh (and the battery life of the G14 was already very good). Asus says you will have more than 10 hours of charge on the G15. Both also feature enhanced speakers with all-new Dolby Atmos software and two-way AI noise cancellation. There are no webcams to view yet.

The G14 and G15 will be available in the first quarter of 2021. Asus has not yet announced whether prices will change. Current models start at $ 1,049.
