ASUS confirms that GeForce RTX 3080 Ti 20GB and RTX 3060 12GB cards are coming

ASUS ROG Strix GeForce RTX 3080
Someone at ASUS may have drank many glasses of chopped eggnog during the holiday, because on the company’s support website, the drop-down menu for the graphics card section listed two unreleased and unannounced GeForce RTX series 30 graphics cards. These would be the GeForce RTX 3080 Ti and the regular GeForce RTX 3060 (read: not Ti).

Not that we should be surprised that more Ampere cards are coming. NVIDIA kicked off the consumer space with the Geforce RTX 3080 on September 17, followed by the best-selling GeForce RTX 3090 a week later on September 24. Then, on October 29, NVIDIA released its GeForce RTX 3070 video card slightly behind schedule.

These were the cards that NVIDIA initially announced. Rumors said there would be a GeForce RTX 3060 Ti as well, and it materialized on December 2, taking its place as the most affordable version of the Ampere, priced at $ 399.
In the meantime, there are many rumors that more Ampere plates are on the way. Earlier this month, the aforementioned GeForce RTX 3080 Ti was apparently confirmed in a list of HP driver driver IDs. Now ASUS seems to have spilled the beans too. Take a look…

ASUS has now removed unannounced entries from its drop-down menu, but not before a screenshot could be taken – as I say, there are no mulligans on the Internet. You can see above that a factory-overclocked ROG Strix GeForce RTX 3080 Ti with 20 GB of memory is highlighted (along with a standard version clocked below), and just above are some ROG Strix GeForce RTX 3060 cards with 12 GB of memory. memory (stock clocked models and factory overclocked models as well).

For reference, the existing GeForce RTX 3080 has 8,704 CUDA cores, 272 TMUs, 96 ROPs and 10 GB of GDDR6X memory (19 Gbps) on a 320-bit bus, yielding 760.3 GB / s of memory bandwidth. Stock GPU clocks are set at 1,440 MHz (base) and 1,710 MHz (boost).

The TI variant will double the amount of memory, while presumably it will remain with GDDR6X. Other specifications have yet to be seen, such as the number of CUDA cores, memory bus width and clock speeds.

Since the regular GeForce RTX 3060 is available, it is curiously positioned to offer 4 GB more memory than the Ti variant, the latter with 4,864 CUDA cores, 152 TMUs, 80 ROPs and 8 GB of GDDR6 on a 256 bus bits. There are rumors that the regular version will have 3,840 CUDA cores, so although it has more memory, performance will still be lower than that of the Ti model, as expected.

It is not clear when these cards will see daylight and in what price ranges. However, with HP and now ASUS launching new models, we have to think that they will be launched soon.
