Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is getting another piece of post-launch content – including a new “highly reproducible” River Raids mode – as part of its latest title update, which will arrive tomorrow, February 16 on all platforms.
Ubisoft has not yet shared many details about the River Raids mode, but says it will take adventurers to unexplored regions of the UK, spread across three new maps. Before embarking on attacks, however, players are encouraged to construct the new Jomsviking Hall settlement building in order to recruit more Jomsvikings to bring in support, with new looting, rewards and promised challenges along the way.
The latest update to the Valhalla title, which is considered part of the game’s first post-launch content season, also introduces a number of new skills and abilities.

The Berserker Trap, for example, can be attached to an arrow and is triggered by a proximity movement, spreading hallucinatory dust, while the Battle Cry ability lets out a blood-chilling cry, increasing Eivor’s strength and causing enemies to stumble , stopping their attacks. There is also a new Shoulder Bash, pushing enemies back and destroying objects.
In front of new skills, players can change a body using Assassin Carry after a successful assassination, while Assassin Slide can be used to hit enemies in a race and unbalance them. Arrow Looter increases Eivor’s chance of plundering archer arrows, Fight Ready starts a fight with an adrenaline-filled slot machine, Power Stroke offers a long ship speed boost for a stamina cost, and Long Ship Brace makes the crew lift your shields with you when you are commanding the ship.
All of this accompanied by a range of quality of life improvements, balance adjustments and bug fixes, as detailed in patch notes 1.1.2 of the Ubisoft title update.
Support for Assassin’s Creed Valhalla’s post-launch content will continue in March with the start of Season 2, bringing another game mode, new festivals, equipment and cosmetics. Seasons 3 and 4 are planned for the end of the year and two large-scale season pass expansions are also under construction. Wrath of the Druids – inspired by Gaelic myths – is scheduled for this spring, and The Siege of Paris is scheduled to arrive sometime this summer.
