Paul Bettany of WandaVision confirms he was chasing Marvel fans about the long-awaited cameo

Who’s trolling Marvel fans? It’s been Paul Bettany the whole time. The WandaVision star admitted on Thursday that he was joking when he repeatedly boasted of a major appearance on the Disney + series, as he was apparently just talking about himself. During numerous interviews promoting the series, the Vision actor joked that he had to work with “an actor that I really admire and have always wanted to work with”, adding that “we have these explosive scenes” together. Fans spent weeks trying to figure out who he was referring to and getting excited with a big surprise, with a popular guess being X-Men star Patrick Stewart. But then the penultimate episode of WandaVision last week revealed another Vision also played by Bettany, leading fans to ask if they just got a prank because the actor he was talking about was actually, well, Paul Bettany. Appearing on Good Morning America on Thursday, Bettany said it was, in fact, what happened. “Do you know when you think something is going to be funny, and you say it, and then you absolutely panic about it?” Bettany said. “What I did, because the fans started to guess who it could be, and they were guessing people like Benedict Cumberbatch or Patrick Stewart, and I was thinking, ‘God, this is a good idea!’ And they will be very disappointed when they find out it’s me. “So again, could it be that this interview is really fake? Michael Strahan wondered if” you could be chasing us now “with the admission, and when he asked Bettany if the ending really had a surprise cameo, he didn’t say. But fans may not be excited, and when asked recently whether Bettany was kidding, WandaVision director Matt Shakman told HuffPost: “I’m going to let Paul Bettany answer that question. He dug that hole. He can get this out. “Will there be a big participation from someone special at the end of #WandaVision? @Paul_Bettany would love to answer, but is too busy pretending to have technical difficulties.
